Dear International College of Surgeons Fellows and Friends:
I welcome you to the 42nd ICS World Congress in beautiful and historic Bangkok, Thailand, November 17 – 19, 2021. The inauguration of the ICS Thailand Section occurred on November 7, 1954, 67 years ago. Over these 67 years, the Thailand Section has consistently demonstrated exceptional support to the global ICS. So, it is with deep gratitude and pride that I commend and thank the leaders and Fellows of the ICS Thailand Section for hosting this ICS 42nd World Congress!
The International College of Surgeons is “alive and well”. The College has “weathered the storm” of the Covid-19 pandemic. Thus, at a time when the entire world is recovering from the global Covid-19 pandemic, it is appropriate that we gather on a face-to-face basis in Bangkok to renew our personal relationships and exchange scientific information. We hope that this face-to-face assembly will be a welcome break from the virtual format.
The theme of the Scientific Congress is “Surgical Practice Amidst Global Crisis”, a timely topic with a focus on aging and climate change. Clinical Professor Apirag Chuangsuwanich, President of the ICS Thailand Section, and Professor Supakorn Rojananin, President of Local Organizing Committee, have planned an outstanding scientific program for all attendees. I encourage you to visit the website “The 42nd ICS World Congress” to view the program details, the call for abstracts, and registration process.
This meeting is also a very special and important time for the ICS global governance, as meetings of the governing bodies and the election of officers, who will serve in 2022 – 2023, will be conducted on November 15 – 16, 2021, in Bangkok, preceding the Scientific Congress.
I look forward to seeing you in Bangkok in November!
Sincerely,
Professor Georgios Tsoulfas
